The firewall screens and filters all traffic to and from any public network before allowing it to pass. It can also guard against employees stealing data. Like a guard at a building's gate, the CyberGuard Firewall guards against hackers breaking into a computer system. The firewall has also received a five-star rating from the National Software Testing Laboratory. "They're trying to get some top contracts now."ĬyberGuard Firewall has won independent testing awards from Communications Week, Data Communications, Federal Computer Week and Byte Magazine. "They are getting tremendous reviews in the trade press," Powell said. Now that CyberGuard has developed new software products, it will reduce its R&D spending to the 10 percent level and should turn a profit by March of 1998, Powell said.
